Larry “David” Matthews, 83, passed away Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Signature Health Care in Glasgow. He was a son of the late Chester and Rena Francis Rigsby Matthews. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife: Barbara Karen Lewis Matthews; two sons: Timmy Matthews (Rita) and Tommy Matthews (Kaye) of Thailand; one step-son: William Elmore (Tabitha); seven grandchildren: Chad Matthews (BB), Shani Matthews Stawki (Calvin), Gavin Matthews, Daxton Matthews, Chayli Matthews, Ziggy Matthews, Tasia Matthews; special niece: Marla Bryant; one brother: Douglas Earl Matthews (Becky); fourteen great-grandchildren: Briar Bragg, Brinlee Bragg, Brady Jo Bragg, Allie Vincent (John Luke), Braxton Simpson, Adleigh Bridgeman, Cody Dubree, Katie Elmore, Will Elmore, Abby Britt (Nigel), Cash Elmore, Lilly Elmore, Lola Britt and Flora Britt; one great-great grandchild: Tripp Vincent; several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Darrell Matthews, Donald Matthews and Doyle Matthews; one step-daughter: Bobbie Jo Dubree; two great-grandchildren: Cierra Bragg and Cain Elmore.
Funeral will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at the Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be after 9:00 am Wednesday until time for services.
