The Glasgow City Council will convene for a special-called meeting Tuesday evening with economic development incentives, zoning considerations, board reappointments, and the swearing-in of a new firefighter taking center stage.
The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, in council chambers on the second floor of the Luska J. Twyman Municipal Building.
Among the evening’s deliberations will be a presentation by the Glasgow Fire Department introducing a new firefighter.
Council members are also expected to consider an ordinance tied to a proposed economic incentive agreement involving Sharp Carts, LLC. The ordinance would authorize the company to retain 1 percent of the city’s 1.75 percent occupational license fee on certain employee wages, contingent upon meeting requirements associated with its Kentucky Business Investment application.
Another item involves a rezoning request for property located at 512 E.Main St. The proposal would change the property’s classification from R-2 medium-density residential to R-4 medium-density multi-family residential.
The council will also review two municipal orders concerning local board appointments. Byran Sorrell is slated for reappointment to the Glasgow-Barren County Tourist Commission for a three-year term, while Beth Wagner is being considered for reappointment to the Historic Preservation Commission for an additional two-year term.
Announcements on the agenda include a performance by local musician Marty Brown, joined by guest Christian Brown June 13 at the Plaza. Proceeds from the concert will benefit the Kiwanis Club of Glasgow.
Council members will also highlight the return of the Movies Under the Stars summer series at Beaver Creek Park. The free family event will feature movies at dusk on May 29, June 26, and July 24, with complimentary popcorn provided.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the Glasgow City Council is set for June 8 at 6 p.m.
