In the early morning hours on the first day of the new year, employees at T.J. Samson Community Hospital welcomed the first baby born in 2026.
Weighing 7 pounds 12 ounces, May Marifer Velasco Rendon was born at 4:29 a.m. on Jan. 1 to Christina Rendon Rodriguez and Fernando Velasco Abraham of Cave City, according to T.J. Regional Health. Baby New Year was delivered by Dr. Todd Bader, the hospital stated.
The parents received a gift basket containing various baby supplies, including a case of diapers.
