The Glasgow Police Department will be conducting traffic safety checkpoints during the month of January.

Beginning on Jan. 3, Glasgow police will periodically conduct checkpoints designed to enforce laws related to “operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, licensing of motor vehicles and operators, registration and insurance, and seat belt and child restraint and motor vehicle equipment violations,” a Glasgow Police Department press release stated.

Locations include Columbia Avenue, West Main Street, North Jackson Highway and Happy Valley Road, but checkpoints are not limited solely to these streets, according to the release.

“Traffic safety checkpoints are a valuable tool used to promote the safety and well-being of the public as well as providing police with visibility and interaction within the community,” the release stated. “Checkpoints are utilized throughout the Commonwealth to help promote highway safety.”
