Malcom Wessling, a fifth-grader at North Jackson Elementary, was named the Student of the Month for Barren County Schools during the district’s December board of education meeting.
North Jackson Principal Leah Kate Pniewski said Wessling “continues to amaze us with his creative thinking, curiosity and academic excellence.”
The principal said he won the grandparent of the year essay contest, and this was “no surprise,” since “his writing is thoughtful, imaginative, full of heart and the kind of work that makes you stop and see the world a little differently.”
Pniewski said Wessling’s creativity does not stop at the page as he is “a truly outstanding member” of the school’s academic team, and he brings “sharp reasoning, quick problem-solving and a joyful enthusiasm for learning” to the team.
