J.C. Walbert scored five points and dished four assists as Transylvania earned its first conference victory of the season on Tuesday night, defeating Earlham, 86-70. As a team, the Pioneers knocked down 14 three-pointers and shot 77 percent from the free-throw line.
The Pioneers and Quakers traded early leads, but Transy closed the first half with back-to-back threes from Luke Idlett and Cayden Lancaster to take a 45-43 advantage into the break.
Hunter Barr led Transylvania with 17 points, eight rebounds, and two steals, while Idlett added 16 points and two steals off the bench. Drew Marshall posted a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, and Ian Reesor finished with 12 points. Jaxon Smith rounded out the double-figure scorers with 12 points and four assists.
The Pioneers are back in action Saturday with a home game against Mount St. Joseph at 2 p.m. central time.
