Over $55,000 was raised for the T.J. Community Mission Foundation during the third Hometown Showdown.

The Hometown Showdown Part III took place at the Plaza Theatre in Glasgow on Nov. 15, and eight teams competed — two at a time — in lip-sync battles in an effort to raise funds for the foundation’s second capital project: the Trinity Rehabilitation Center at Samsonville Square, which was announced during the second Hometown Showdown event under the name Samsonville Square.

Construction costs are between $750,000 and $800,000, said Randy Burns, the foundation’s executive director, previously. Through sponsorships, donations, and ticket sales, Burns announced they had raised $55,035, which is more than was raised during the previous two lip-sync events. The first two showdowns raised $45,170 and over $53,000, respectively, according to prior reporting.

The winners of the showdown were Southcentral Kentucky Community and Technical College, Metcalfe County Schools, Commonwealth Broadcasting and T. J. Samson Hospital with Metcalfe County Schools being voted the competition’s grand champions.
