Gumm named district player of the year; Scotties land 13 on all-conference

The undefeated Glasgow Scotties racked up several postseason awards this week.

Quarterback Hudson Gumm led the way as the Class 3A, District 2 Player of the Year. The senior passed for 1,464 yards, 22 touchdowns and only two interceptions. He was also one of 13 Glasgow football players named to the Sky Conference postseason teams. Seven of those players were on the defensive side of the ball.

The Scotties’ defense led Class 3A in points allowed per game at 6.5, and was third in the state across all classes.

Defensive linemen Keavian Massey and Xander Contreras, linebacker Trace Smith, defensive back Landon Martin and special teams player Grayson Bartley were named to the Sky Conference first team.

Lineman Jordan Huffman and linebacker Steven Garrett were named to the second team.

Smith led the Scotties in total tackles with 81, Bartley was second with 65 and Martin was third with 64. Contreras led the team in sacks and tackles for loss with six and 10, respectively.

Running backs Jaylen Bradley and Cam Bulle were named to the Sky Conference offensive first team, as was wide receiver Jerrick Martin and offensive lineman Javon Twyman. Wide receiver Jeremiah Moore was selected for the second team.

Bulle led the Scotties in rushing with 545 yards and seven touchdowns. Bradley rushed for 430 yards and six touchdowns. Bradley also led the team in receiving with 596 yards and nine touchdowns.

Jerrick Martin led Glasgow in receiving touchdowns with 11, and had 556 yards receiving.

Glasgow opens the Class 3A playoffs Friday at home against Webster County at 7 p.m.
