Western Kentucky University recently received $78,000 from the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education to support collegiate recovery resource centers.

Recovery resource centers are “designed to support students in recovery from substance use disorders and those managing co-occurring mental health challenges,” according to the council.

“This initiative is about building recovery-ready campuses and communities,” said Leslie Sizemore, Vice President of Workforce and Economic Development at the council. “We are proud to support these institutions as they lead with compassion, evidence-based practices and a commitment to student well-being and success.”

Each center will offer trauma-informed peer recovery services, academic support and workforce readiness programming in collaboration with community recovery and behavioral health providers.

The project runs through June 30, 2026.
