An agreement with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet and a memorandum of understanding with the Federal Bureau of Investigation lead the Barren County Fiscal Court agenda for the regular meeting Tuesday morning.

The memorandum is between the Barren River Drug Task Force and the FBI to “enhance the effectiveness of federal, state and local law enforcement resources” and “delineates the responsibilities of the Bluegrass Transnational Organized Crime Western Hemisphere Task Force personnel and formalize relationships…for policy guidance, planning and training.”

Ron Lafferty, director of the drug task force, said one drug task force officer is going to work with the FBI while remaining in the multi-county drug task force.

“One of our task force officers is going to be a FBI task force officer and [this] memorandum of understanding their roles and policies,” Lafferty said. “He’ll have access to more information, more funding for investigation and stuff like that. He’ll have access as far as investigating people — if we wanted to investigate someone who’s bringing in stuff from California, he’ll have more resources than we normally would.”

According to the agenda, the magistrates will also discuss, and possibly approve, an agreement with the transportation cabinet for a bridge replacement/repair for $751,319. No other information was provided.

Other agenda items include:

A. Approve Payment of Claims, as presented
B. Approve Transfer of Funds
C. Approve Personnel Actions, as presented
D. Approve County Clerk Bond to Commonwealth of Kentucky
F. Approve Resolution for Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Agreement

The next fiscal court meeting is March 18.
