The National Weather Service in Louisville has placed Barren County in a flood watch from midnight on Friday, Feb. 14 to noon on Sunday, Feb. 16.
“Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations,” the service states. “Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and rivers will be possible.”
Based on the National Weather Service’s forecast, the flood watch includes all of south central Kentucky and middle and west Tennessee.
“Two to five inches of rainfall on top of already saturated soils will lead to significant flooding concerns through much of the weekend,” the service states.
