Road work on KY 90 and U.S. 31-E in Barren County is bringing a mix of new traffic restrictions and completed improvements, according the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Post 3.
On KY 90, a culvert replacement at mile point 10.09 will create temporary lane closures beginning Wednesday, Sept. 30.
Officials say drivers in that area should expect delays while crews are on site.
A long-term temporary closure is expected to begin at the same location on Oct. 5.
Transportation officials plan to use a signed detour to guide motorists around the closure once it goes into effect.
Elsewhere on KY 90, from mile points 0.2 to 8.8, officials report that the majority of work on an earlier project is now complete.
The construction zone in that stretch has been removed and normal traffic flow has resumed.
A separate Highway Safety Improvement Project continues on U.S. 31-E between mile points 8 and 12 in Barren County.
Motorists on that corridor should expect daytime lane closures from near J. Carter Road to near the Louie B. Nunn Cumberland Expressway.
Crews are finishing drainage improvements at several locations along U.S. 31-E as part of the safety upgrades.
The project also includes minor roadway widening throughout the corridor.
That widening is designed to create a 4-foot centerline buffer between opposing lanes of travel.
In addition, a new turn lane will be added on U.S. 31-E at Windy Hills Road to improve traffic flow and safety at that intersection.
Officials urge drivers to slow down, watch for workers and obey posted signs when traveling through any active work zones in Barren County.
