Christopher Rye was sentenced Thursday, Feb. 13, to 4 years for a violent offense, which means he must serve at least 85 percent of his sentence before becoming eligible for any kind of early release.

He had been charged with shooting Matthew Arms on McKenna Street last year.

Rye had previously entered a guilty plea on the amended charges of second-degree assault under extreme emotional disturbance and three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment.

In the circuit courtroom Thursday, Commonwealth’s Attorney John Gardner had Matthew’s step-sister, Gracelyn Bunch, and mother, Lori Bunch, read victim impact statements before Judge John Alexander.
