Voter registration numbers from the State Board of Elections show Barren County had 27 new voters registered in January, to bring the total to 32,697.

According to the numbers, Barren County has 15 fewer Democrats, 29 more Republicans, eight more “other” voters, six more Independents, one less Libertarian and one more voter in the Reform Party.

A press release from the Kentucky Secretary of State website states Republicans make up 47 percent of the electorate statewide, which is lower than Barren County’s percentage of 52 percent. Conversely, statewide Democratic registration accounted for 42 percent; four percentage points higher than the 38 percent registered in the county.

In December 138 people were added to Kentucky’s voter rolls with 56 less Democratic voters, 151 more registered Republicans, 13 additional “other” registration and 25 more Independents.

There are no federal, statewide or local elections scheduled for 2025.
