The single-day cleanup scheduled for Friday, Jan. 10, has been canceled due to safety concerns for Barren County residents.
“This event has been cancelled due to concerns for the safety of Barren County residents, as the forecasted low temperatures and potential snowstorm on Friday could create dangerous road conditions, making travel significantly risky for citizens,” Barren County Solid Waste stated on social media.
This cancellation announcement comes as Barren County is placed under a winter storm watch by the National Weather Service for Jan. 10 and Jan. 11, which could result in “moderate to heavy” snowfall.
Marcus Thurman with Barren County Solid Waste said details regarding the typical spring cleanup event would become available soon.
