A former Franklin resident, Betty Hughes Goodrum, age 93 of Versailles, KY, took her journey home to be with the Lord on October 1, 2024.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 11am at Crafton Funeral Home with burial to follow in White’s Chapel Cemetery in Warren County. Visitation will be from 4pm until 7pm Friday and after 6am Saturday at the funeral home.
A native of Simpson County, she was the daughter of the late John Thomas Hughes and Ruby Jones Hughes. She was married at the young age of 16 to Shelby Douglas Goodrum on August 31, 1947.
She was preceded in death by her husband on March 4, 1994 and her brother John Allen Hughes on August 20, 2011.
She was a member of Franklin First Baptist Church and a 1953 graduate of Franklin Simpson High School. In 1958 she began her banking career and served as Secretary/Treasurer of Potter Matlock Bank & Trust in Bowling Green, KY. When Potter Matlock merged with American National Bank she served as Assistant Vice President. When Greenwood Mall Branch opened she served as Assistant Branch Manager, retiring in 1987. When South Central Bank of Bowling Green opened she served as Banking Executive and Manager of the 31-W by-pass branch. She retired in 1997.
Survivors include her son – Steven Douglas Goodrum and wife Sherry, two grandchildren- Ethan Douglas Goodrum and Claire Elise Goodrum of Versailles, Kentucky.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Franklin First Baptist Church, 303 East Cedar Street, Franklin, KY 42134
