Mary Frances Wheeler, age 94 of Franklin, passed away Thursday, August 29, 2024 at the Medical Center in Franklin.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, August 30, 2024 at 12pm at Shady Grove Baptist Church, 1015 Hickory Flat-Gold City Road, Franklin, KY 42134. Visitation will be from 3pm until 7pm Friday at Crafton Funeral Home and Saturday from 10am until funeral service time at 12pm at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
A native of Greenbrier, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Robert Canida and Estelle Kitchens Canida. She was a member of Eastside Missionary Baptist Church where she attended for 50 plus year. In later years, she attended Shady Grove Baptist Church with her family. She loved gardening and all kinds of flowers. She loved working in her flowers. She was married for 59 years to her late husband – Henry Wheeler. She was a loving farmers wife and worked beside her husband daily. She loved baking and cooking until her health failed her. Mrs. Wheeler always baked and cooked to feed the neighbors and loved ones who were in need. She loved having her children over to eat and always fixed a wonderful feast.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her brothers – James and Joe Canida; sisters – Sara Bernice Dixon, Ella Canida, Geneva Slater, Annie Ruth Grissom and Rita Hanley.
She is survived by her children – Joyce Turner (Barry) and Charlotte Cassity (Larry) both of Franklin and her son – Robert Wheeler (Beverly) of Readyville, Tennessee; sister – Martha Poteet of Bowling Green; special friend and caregiver – Carolyn Low along with several nieces and nephews.
