Charles Robert Halter (Corky) of Bowling Green, Kentucky passed on to his heavenly home on August 10th, 2024, after a long and courageous battle with Cancer. Born in 1942, Corky graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and received Bachelor’s degrees at Lindsey Wilson College and Western Kentucky University. An avid outdoorsman, photographer, and traveler, Corky and his beloved Wife, Scottie, visited 43 states during their 58 beautiful years of marriage. A friend to all, Corky never met a stranger. Even as Cancer tried to win, Corky’s only wish was to make you smile with charming wit or an “appropriate” joke. A gardener, reader, and loyal WKU fan, Corky leaves behind a legacy to treat every day as an adventure and to cherish God’s three greatest gifts: family, friends, and nature.
Corky is survived by his son, Timothy Alan Halter (Valerie); Daughter-in-law, Kimberly Halter; Grandchildren; Mandy Hunter (Chris), Katherine Smith (Andrew), Alyssa Halter, Laura-Leigh Halter; Great Grandchildren, Charlie and Dylan; Sister-in-law, Sheila Halter, Kathy Willis, and Linda Staples (Harry) and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Corky is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Scottie-Ann Halter; parents, Robert and Ferne Halter; son, Jeffery Halter; brother, Jerry Halter and brother-in-law, Elroy Willis.
Visitation will be 4:00 – 8:00 PM Friday, August 16th, 2024 and Saturday 9:00 AM until funeral service at 10:00 AM at J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel with burial in Bowling Green Gardens.
