Ms. Elizabeth (Ford) Wood

Ms. Elizabeth (Ford) Wood, age 82, of Tompkinsville, Kentucky, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at Signature Healthcare of Monroe County. Elizabeth was born in Tompkinsville, on June 12, 1941, to the late Reed and Verna LeeAnn (Hammer) Ford. She spent most of her time quilting, raising her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Mt. Poland Baptist Church.

She is survived by her six children; Meda Burnette and husband Barry, Neda Yeager and husband Kevin, Taylor Wayne Wood and wife Amanda, James Welby Wood and wife Betsy, all of Tompkinsville, Shirley Ann Collins of Louisville, and Helen Faye Clemons. Four siblings; Mary Bell Rich, Martha Arnett, James Ford, and John Ford all of Tompkinsville. Twelve grandchildren; Mike Wood, Sherri Pawson, Tonya Emmert, Jennifer Clemons, Keri Burnette, Justin Wood, Jordan Wood, Miranda Owens, Jaret Wood, Dalton Thurman, Dalton Yeager, Bryce Yeager, and Kennedy Thurman, twenty-two great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren also survive.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband James Earl Ford, two sisters; Thea Ford and Rebecca Ford, one brother Peter “Pete” Ford, granddaughter Rebecca Wood, son-in-law Neal Collins, and daughter-in-law Carol Wood.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Mt. Poland Baptist Church, with interment to follow in the Mt. Poland Cemetery. Bro. Shannon Arnett will be officiating the service.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 31, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Bartley & Sons Funeral Home, and again Saturday morning after 8:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. at the Mt. Poland Baptist Church.

Pallbearers: Taylor Wood, Justin Wood, Jordan Wood, Jaret Wood, Dalton Thurman, Bryce Yeager, Dalton Yeager, & Meda Burnette.

Honorary Pallbearers: Kevin Yeager, Barry Burnette, and her nieces and nephews.
