MALLIE – On June 17, at approximately 11:17 A.M, Kentucky State Police, Post 13, Hazard, received a call in reference to a single vehicle accident with injuries on KY-1393 in the Mallie community of Knott County.
Troopers, along with medical personnel, responded to the scene. Preliminary investigation indicates that Gary L. Amburgey, 70, of Pinetop, was traveling southbound on KY-1393, when a tree fell into the roadway striking his vehicle. Amburgey was pronounced deceased on scene by the Knott County Coroners Office.
Seat belts were in use at the time of the collision. This incident remains under investigation by Trooper Leo Slone.
