MADISONVILLE – The Kentucky State Police announced that Lieutenant Jon McGehee graduated as a member of the 286th session of the FBI National Academy. The graduation occurred at the National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, on June 8.
Lieutenant McGehee is a 13-year veteran of KSP and has served in several assignments, including Trooper, Squad Sergeant, Investigations Sergeant, and Operations Lieutenant. McGehee was grateful for the opportunity to attend and graduate from the class.
“It was an honor to represent the Kentucky State Police during the National Academy Session 286. I am grateful to have shared this experience with some of the greatest law enforcement leaders from around the world,” said McGehee.
Internationally known for its academic excellence, the National Academy offers ten weeks of advanced communication, leadership, and fitness training. Participants must have proven records as professionals within their agencies to attend. On average, these officers have 21 years of law enforcement experience and usually return to their agencies to serve in executive-level positions.
The 286th session consisted of 238 law enforcement officers from 47 states and the District of Columbia. The class included members of law enforcement agencies from 25 countries, five military organizations, and six federal and civilian agencies.
Lieutenant McGehee is a native of Muhlenberg County and is a 2004 graduate of Muhlenberg North High School. Lieutenant McGehee earned his master’s degree in Justice Administration from the University of the Cumberlands. Since serving with KSP, he has received the Governor’s Award for DUI Enforcement twice and Post 2 Trooper of the Year nomination. He currently resides in Bremen, Ky.
