GLASGOW — A case involving the alleged murder of a Barren County man is heading to a Barren County grand jury.
Cheryl Leighanne Bennett, 45, was arrested Nov. 3 after police alleged she contributed to the July 9 death of her father, Michael. He was discovered dead inside his Tangle Wood Drive home. An investigation found his BIPAP breathing machine had been powered down several times in the hours preceding his death.
Bennett appeared in court Monday alongside Johnny Bell, her attorney. He requested a bond reduction from $500,000 to $50,000. The judge took the recommendation under advisement.
At this point, Bennett faces allegations of murder. The case will be heard by a grand jury, which means an indictment could be issued. If it is, she will reappear in court for arraignment to plead guilty or not guilty.
At least one grand jury session is held each month in Barren County.
