ELIZABETHTOWN — A crash near Exit 102 between Elizabethtown and Lebanon Junction has blocked Interstate 65 in both directions.
The crash is in a construction zone where a semi collided with barrier wall and pushed the wall across all southbound and most of the northbound side, according to a news release from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. Motorists are advised to chose an alternate route before Exit 102 for northbound and before Exit 105 southbound.
The semi is being removed but it will take an estimated two to three hours for crews to get the barrier wall back in place.
For those sitting in the queue, crews are working to relieve northbound backup via KY 313 at Exit 102 and will be directing incoming northbound traffic onto US 62 at Exit 94 in Elizabethtown.
This incident is creating major traffic delays and motorists should use additional caution when traveling adjacent routes with increased volumes of motorists traveling unfamiliar roads.
