A Barren County grand jury has indicted LaJuan Smith on a third-degree rape charge involving a girl younger than 16, according to an indictment filed in circuit court.
The indictment alleges that on or about Dec. 31, 2024, in Barren County, Smith, who is now 32, engaged in sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 16.
Prosecutors charged Smith under Kentucky Revised Statute 510.060, which defines third-degree rape. Under Kentucky law, third-degree rape is classified as a Class D felony.
Smith has an initial court date set for October 12, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.
A Kentucky State Police detective served as witness to the indictment.
