Barry L. McFarland, age 71, of Munfordville, KY, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by family, on Tuesday, July 28, 2026. Barry was a dedicated worker who spent his career at Dana (formerly Eaton), beginning at the age of 18 and remaining until his retirement.
In his free time throughout his retirement, Barry was an avid outdoorsman and sports enthusiast. He cherished time spent fishing with his sister and grandchildren, as well as spending time shopping. A passionate NASCAR fan, he rarely missed a race and always enjoyed following the competition. Barry also had a lifelong passion for cars and was known for his warm, friendly personality—he truly never met a stranger.
Barry is preceded in death by his parents Adrian and Elizabeth McFarland; one son, Tony Hawkins; two aunts, Louise Bradshaw (Gene) and Jeanette Blankenship (John); two nephews, Anthony Bradshaw and John Blankenship Jr.
He is survived by Kathy McFarland, His loving wife and best friend for 38 years; four children, June Branscum (Joe) Kevin Hawkins (Sallye), Josh Hawkins (Mel), and Marcia Carroll (Stephen); 11 grandchildren, Amanda Orten (Adam), Matt Hawkins, Brittany Hawkins (Byron), Zach Hawkins (Lindsey), Mark Collins, Cody Hawkins, Hayden Beckley, Maddox Carroll, Zoey Hawkins, and Josiah Branscum; three great-grandchildren, Decklyn Goodman, Xander Orten, and Sabrina Hawkins; three nieces, Carla Beckley (Damon), Jane Gunter (Mark), and Angela Logsdon (Ric); five nephews, Brian Hawkins, Chad Hawkins (Nicky), Bruce Bradshaw (Stephanie), Joel Blankenship (Amy), and Jack Blankenship; a host of extended family members, dear friends, and a slew of family members he helped raise and influence over the years, also survive.
The family will welcome friends from 11:00 AM- 8:00 PM CT on Friday, July 31, 2026 and again from 8:00- 11:00 AM CT on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at Brooks Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM CT on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at Brooks Funeral Home with Bro. Rick Logsdon officiating. Burial will follow at the Cherry Springs Cemetery in Cub Run, KY.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
