The Joint City-County Planning Commission approved a zone change for 801 Columbia Avenue during its regular meeting Monday night at Luska J. Twyman Municipal Building. The commission also heard from Paula Pedigo in regards to possible data center regulations in Barren County.
The application identified as 061526-01-G requested a zone change for property owned by Houchens Center for Children Inc.
It sought to reclassify approximately 2.4 acres at 801 Columbia Avenue from R-1, a low density residential district, to B-2, a general business district, within the city of Glasgow.
Pedigo spoke during the meeting about the need for greater regulation on potential data centers being built in Barren County.
Recently, data centers have become a hot topic in Cave City due to the passage of a one-year moratorium on such facilities.
The commission also reviewed a pre-construction variance application. Applicant and property owner Blake Boston requested the variance for one tract of approximately 0.614 acres at 88 Finney Road in Barren County, based on a plot plan prepared by Pride Land Surveying.
The commission also approved an agricultural application for division of real estate. Owner Mary Ethel Jewell made the application that involves one tract totaling about 37.3 acres located roughly 1,700 feet northwest of the C. Williams Road and North Lucas Road intersection in Barren County, according to a plat prepared by Pride Land Surveying.
