Barren County High School is a distinguished Project Lead the Way school for 2025-2026.
“BCHS is among a select group of high schools across the United States to receive this honor for its commitment to increasing student access, engagement, and achievement in career-connected learning,” a press release from the Barren County School District stated.
Barren County High School was one of eight high schools in Kentucky recognized as distinguished for the 2025-2025 school year, according to the Project Lead the Way website. Barren County offers PLTW Biomedical Sciences and Engineering Programs.
“These recognitions reflect the incredible work happening in our classrooms every day,” said Robert Bauer, Barren County Schools District Project Lead The Way Coordinator. “Our students are being challenged to think critically, solve real-world problems, and explore meaningful career pathways through hands-on learning experiences. We are proud of the teachers and students who have helped make these programs so successful.”
PLTW is a national nonprofit organization that creates transformative learning experiences and empowers students to develop in-demand knowledge and skills for future careers.
The PLTW Distinguished School recognition honors schools committed to increasing student access, engagement, and achievement in their PLTW programs. To be eligible for the designation, BCHS had to meet multiple criteria, including the number of PLTW courses available to students, the percentage of students enrolled in PLTW courses, and the percentage of students taking more than one PLTW course.
“We are proud to honor Barren County High School for giving students hands-on, career-connected learning that builds the confidence, knowledge, and skills to navigate their futures,” said Dr. David Dimmett, PLTW President and CEO. “Their commitment to real-world, project-based learning ensures students experience education that is meaningful and directly connected to what comes next.”
