Glasgow Independent Schools Board of Education members approved Superintendent Chad Muhlenkamp’s new contract during their regular meeting Monday night in the CO2 Boardroom.
The contract makes Muhlenkamp the district’s leader through June 30, 2030.
“He prioritizes building relationships with students, staff and family,” Board Chair Mary Burchett-Bower said after the meeting. “To ensure our resources are allocated responsibly to support student achievement.
“He seeks to initiate innovative programs to interest and challenge our students.”
Burchett-Bower said Muhlenkamp also works to create “seamless curriculum alignment and instructional continuity between the elementary, middle and high school levels so students experience a cohesive education progression that sets them up for success.”
“Above all, he cares about this district,” she said. “He works tirelessly to make it strong and provide the highest quality education for our students.”
The school board had appointed Muhlenkamp as the district’s superintendent during its meeting in April — since his previous contract was coming to an end — but his new contract still needed to be finalized.
At the beginning of Monday’s meeting, the board recognized the following retiring employees: Melanie Dakin (teacher at Highland Elementary); Sandra Smith (instructional assistant at Highland Elementary); Pam Smith (teacher at Glasgow Preschool Academy); Chasity Lowery (teacher at Glasgow High School); Tammy Lindsey (FRYSC coordinator at South Green Elementary); Don Minor (bus driver for the district); Cornelius Faulkner (deputy superintendent for the district); and Shane London (teacher at Glasgow High School).
Their respective principals or supervisors spoke highly of each individual for their dedication and contributions to the school district.
