Barren County used two 4-run innings to roll away from Taylor County, 9-2, on Thursday.

The Trojans led 1-0 headed into the bottom of the third inning. There, they poured on four runs to push their lead to 5-0.

Colton Wilson drew a walk to lead off. He moved to second on a wild pitch during Cash McGuire’s at-bat. McGuire eventually drew a walk to set runners at first and second.

Jax Vincent followed and loaded the bases with a single. Jordan Harris next drove in Wilson with a single. Then Jaxon Pierce nailed a double that scored both McGuire and Vincent.

Harris later scored on a sacrifice fly by Gavin Coffey.

The Cardinals closed the gap to 5-2 with a two-run homer in the top of the sixth, but Barren responded with four runs in the bottom of the that inning to secure the win.

Vincent and Pierce each posted two hits in the game, while Harris, Coffey and Wilson each had a hit.

Landon Uhles started on the mound. He struck out four and allowed five hits in five-and-a-third innings. Dylan Poynter closed the game and struck out three.
