Barren County could not overcome a third quarter scoring drought and lost its first game of the season Monday.
The Trojanettes entered the second half with a 26-21 lead over the Franklin-Simpson Lady Wildcats in the championship game of the First Bank Classic at South Warren
Franklin posted a 14-2 run to open the third period and did not trail again in the game. Barren trailed 35-28 midway through the third quarter, and 41-36 after three quarters.
The Trojanettes hung around in the fourth period, but could not complete a comeback and lost by 2, 49-47.
The loss dropped Barren County to 11-1 on the season.
Shelby Byrd led the Trojanettes with 23 points. No other Barren player scored in double figures.
