GLASGOW, KY  –  The Barren County Fiscal Court met Tuesday morning.  In early reports, a few public safety issues were addressed.  First of all, an Amish funeral will be occurring this week near Highway 1297 in Barren County.  Also, Sheriff Kent Keen reported a schedule change for the Beaver Recreation area.  While Barren County Sheriff Kent Keen says that his deputies will still patrol the area, there is no longer camping.  The decision was made by the U.S. Army Corps of engineers.  The gates will now close at 6:00 pm.

Barren County Parks and Recreation Director Chris Jennings reported that all 158 games for baseball and softball that had been canceled, due to an overly rainy spring, have now been rescheduled.

Magistrate District 7 Brad Groce also complemented Jennings on what he has heard from several parents and grandparents at the park.  “People are tickled with everything taking place down there”, said Groce, of Jackie Browning Park.

Before the close of Tuesday’s Barren Fiscal Court meeting, Judge Executive Byrd received a last-minute update on a bid for the HVAC system renovations at the new County Building in the old US Bank facility downtown.  Byrd explains…

The special called meeting will take place at Barren Fiscal Court this Thursday, May 23rd at 3:30 pm.  The court will vote on bids for the work, so that the process of improving the facility’s HVAC system can begin.
