7-3-2003 – Cave City adopts amended 2002-03 budget – Revenues $812,256.00 – Expenditures $863,343.00

Mark Wallace is named Barren County Schools Director of Special Services.

Barren Boys attend Sheriff’s Ranch – Cory Bowles, Justin Bowles, Cody Sorrell, W T Clark, Brad McLaughlin, Justin Glass and Tadaski Latimore.

William Steven Byrd is installed as Hiseville Lions Club President.

7-10-2003 – The Glasgow Community Band performed for the annual Independence Day Holiday Concert on the Square.

Country music singer, John Anderson, visited Houchens # 1 last week promoting his new barbeque meats.

7 boys from Glasgow’s Boy Scout Troop 747 recently completed a trip to Yellowstone National Park – Aaron Leftwich, Casey Meek, Jared Gutherie, Scott Shaw, Peter Keifer, Tyler Shaw and Alex Drake.

Barren County Fair slated for July 22-26 with concert on opening night by Anthony Dean, Barren County native,  and the Dean’s List.

7-17-2003 – The Class of 2006 of the Family Medical Residency Program interns are Brian Marcum, Bill Hoke, Rob Wesley and Craig Denham.

Wade Barton is named Chairman of the local board of Southern State Coop. Kari Button is chairman of the Home Advisory Committee.

Annie Potts, Franklin native, will star in “Love Letters” at the Horse Cave Theater July 27 & 28th.

Advanced Camp is a happening plan to be for summer camps at Scrapbook Village.

A $95,619 grant has been received for Barren County Drug Task Force.

7-24-2003 – Three local educators are honored at KASA last week – Randy Wilkinson, Byron Jeffries and Dr. Fred Carter.

Dorothy McCubbin will serve as Barren County Middle School Interim principal. Debra Walden is the new Assistant Principal at Barren County High School.

American Heart Walk Organization sets goal of $62,000 for the walk on October 18. Vickie Alexander is chairman and Andrea Deckard is Vice Chairman.

Kentucky State Police Trooper Scott Doyle, Cave City native, is awarded a Trooper’s Medal for outstanding performance.

Bill Luster’s photographs will be featured August 3 at the SCKCC. “Frames from the Heart” will be approximately 50 photos from his career.

 

 

7-31-2003 – Casey Thomerson is crowned Miss Barren County Fair.

Barren County and Glasgow Schools return to the classroom August 6th. Caverna returns August 7th.

Anniversaries – 25th for Eddie and Kathy Jones Pedigo, 40th for Rev. and Mrs. Phillip Beckner.

Glenview Health Care Employee of the Month for March is Tenita Whitney and Monika Houchens is April’s Employee of the Month.
