Kentucky State Police investigates officer-involved shooting in Harlan County

HARLAN – On Monday, The Kentucky State Police (KSP) has been requested by Harlan Police Department (HPD) to investigate an officer-involved shooting that occurred at 1:43 a.m. EST in Harlan County.

At the request of HPD, KSP Post 10 detectives arrived on scene and the investigation into the incident remains ongoing.

A male suspect was pronounced deceased on scene by the Harlan County Coroner. A female suspect was transported by ambulance to Harlan ARH Hospital then flown to the University of Kentucky Albert B. Chandler Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during a domestic violence altercation.

KSP has statewide jurisdiction and investigates officer-involved shootings throughout the commonwealth as requested by local law enforcement agencies.
