GLASGOW —The First Baptist Church is making preparations to host its annual Martin Luther King Jr. services.

Two services are slated for this year’s observations. Those include one on Sunday, Jan. 15 at 6 p.m. and one on Monday, Jan. 16 at 1 p.m. The holiday will be observed on Monday, Jan. 16.

“We would be honored if you would come and share this event with us,” said a letter from Rev. Dr. Michael D. Rice, the pastor of Glasgow’s First Baptist Church.

A brief celebration is scheduled at the Barren County Courthouse at 12 p.m. on Monday, and a brief march to the church will follow thereafter. The church is located at 611 S. Lewis St.

This year’s speakers include Robert Pearson, the pastor of Jackson Street Baptist Church in Nashville, and James Buford, the pastor of Williamson Chapel CME Church in Nashville. Pearson will conduct Sunday’s service while Buford will conduct Monday’s, according to the letter.
