Gilley, Stilts among other incumbents who won’t seek reelection

EDMONTON — A handful of Metcalfe Countians have filed to run in this year’s election. A few incumbents did not file when the deadline closed Tuesday.

The primary election is scheduled May 17, 2022, in Kentucky. But several offices will not appear on the ballot either due to having one candidate or no more than one candidate from a particular party.

The Metcalfe County Sheriff’s race includes the most candidates for a single office. There are six candidates.

Lonnie Hodges (R), the incumbent, seeks a second term. He was elected during the 2019 General Election. Other sheriff candidates include Democrat Dalton Bragg and Republicans Tony Shockley, Mike Burton, Joshua Neal and Eric Bryant.

Republican Benny Lile, a former superintendent of Metcalfe County Schools, and Democrat Larry N. Wilson, the manager of Butler Funeral Home, will appear as the candidates for Metcalfe Judge Executive. Incumbent Harold Stilts did not refile.

Shannon Fields (D), the incumbent, and Erica Hensley (D) have filed for Metcalfe Clerk. Fields was sworn in as clerk in January 2022 after the retirement of longtime clerk, Carol Chaney.

Coroner candidates include Democrats Mark Froedge, Lee Ann Caffee Jones and Greg Wilson.

Metcalfe County Attorney candidates include Sharon B. Howard (R) and Holly Coleman (D). Barry Gilley, the incumbent, did not refile.

The jailer and PVA seats include one filing each — Randall Shive (R) for Jailer and Michael Welsh (D).

The Metcalfe Fiscal Court includes four magistrates.

  • Harvey Hawkins (D) and Brock Stilts (R) for District 1.
  • Republicans Kevin Crain, the incumbent, and Dagan Rock for District 2.
  • Republicans Donnie Smith, the incumbent, and John T. Dubree for District 3.
  • Republicans Keith Corum and Ronnie Miller, the incumbent, and Democrats Timothy Hubbard and Democrat Doug Harris for District 4.

Metcalfe County has four constable positions.

  • Republicans Joshua Cole and Mark Oliver have filed for District 1.
  • Democrat Jeffery Garmon and Republican Adam Bennett filed for District 2.
  • Republican Dwight Smith filed for District 3.
  • Democrat Stanley Burris filed for District 4.

The Edmonton City Council has three candidates. Those include Jacob C. Garmon, Tommy England and Stacy Beard. There are five seats to fill.
