Glasgow, Ky. — On Friday, July 16, 2021, board members for the Glasgow Electric Plant Board (GEPB) met in a special-called session to select a candidate for the position of Superintendent. After discussion in closed session, the board returned and voted 3-1 to allow chairperson DT Froedge to negotiate contract terms with David Puskala for the Superintendent’s position at the Glasgow EPB. On Wednesday, August 11th, 2021, the board convened in another special-called meeting and voted 3-1 to approve the terms for Puskala’s contract, effectively naming him as the next Superintendent of Glasgow’s electric power, cable television, and internet broadband utility beginning September 13th, 2021.

Puskala, a native of Iron River, Michigan, graduated high school in 1985 before achieving a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering in 1989 from Michigan Technological University.

Puskala has had an extensive career, with time spent in the electric utility industry. Mainly serving in the private sector, he began his career at Wisconsin Power & Light Company (now known as Alliant Energy) as a Substation and Transmission Engineer. After leaving Wisconsin in 1991, he would serve in leadership at the Upper Peninsula Power Company (UPPCO) in his home region of Michigan until 1998. From there he would serve in a number of roles including ownership of Northern Energy Solutions, a private thermal insulation installation company based out of Marquette, Michigan and Iron Key Corporation, a private holdings company. Most recently, Puskala returned to UPPCO where he has served as an Account Executive in Ishpeming, Michigan since 2018.

Puskala’s experience in public electric power comes from a three-year term as a board member for the Marquette Board of Light and Power, a municipal electricity provider for the community of Marquette, Michigan.

“The opportunity to work directly for the customer being served is what attracted me to the idea of working in public power. The size of the community and its location in southern Kentucky is what attracted me to this specific opportunity. Glasgow is in a beautiful part of the country and the community has a lot going for it. My initial focus will be on our electrical and communications infrastructure. Well maintained and engineered infrastructure is the foundation of our ability to offer reliable and innovating services to the community of Glasgow.” said Puskala.

Puskala began his duties as Superintendent of the Glasgow EPB on Monday, September 13th, 2021.
