Jerry Douglas Emmitt, 64, of Edmonton passed away peacefully, Sunday, April 11, 2021 at his home. Born in Barren County Jerry was the son of the late Chester Emmitt, Sr., and Verda Thomas Emmitt. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers. Junior, Jackie and Mike Emmitt. A sister July Walker.
At the age of 18, Jerry joined the National Guard and served for 21 years. The guard was activated and sent to Iraq to serve during Desert Storm. Jerry spent 6 months there before returning to the United States.
Jerry is survived by his wife Shelia Wisdom Emmitt of Edmonton. A son, Dewayne and wife Victoria Emmitt of Edmonton. Five grandchildren. Lindsey Young, Kaleb (Courtney Wells) Emmitt, Noah Emmitt, Elijah Emmitt and Lilly Emmitt. His brothers and sister in law. Jimmy Wisdom, Jerry and Judy Clemmons all of Edmonton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Jerry Emmitt will be held 1:00 PM, Thursday at Trinity Christian Outreach Church. Burial will follow in the Chestnut Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:30 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday and after 9:00 AM Thursday at the church. The church is located at 250 Dogwood Forrest Rd., Edmonton, Kentucky.
