A Barren County teenager was air-lifted and two others were injured following a single vehicle wreck late Saturday night, July 7, just before 11:00 p.m. on the Cumberland Parkway near the three mile marker.
It appears the accident occurred when 19-year-old Shanda N. Shockley of Glasgow, was westbound on the parkway, in a 1998 Ford Explorer, when she lost control of the SUV and struck a guardrail before overturning multiple times and being ejected from the vehicle.
Shockley was air-lifted from the scene by Air Methods to the University of Louisville Hospital, where she is in stable condition.
Two passengers in Shockley’s vehicle were also injured but not ejected, 22-year-old Seirra D. Mesker of Glasgow was taken by Medical Center EMS to Bowling Green Medical Center and 19-year-old Maggan L. Campos of Glasgow was taken by Barren-Metcalfe Emergency Medical Service to T.J. Samson Community Hospital.
None of the three were restrained at the time of the crash.
Deputy Adam Bow investigated and was assisted by Deputies Chris Wyatt and Kevin Wilson.
Members of the Park City Volunteer Fire Department were first responders at the scene.
