MUNFORDVILLE — Hart County Judge/ Executive Joe Choate has declared an emergency burn ban.
The ban was issued sometime Wednesday afternoon. It bans all open burning due to “extraordinary drought conditions” experienced in Hart County. No burning except campfires in established campgrounds is allowed.
Violations of the burn ban are punishable as a Class A misdemeanor, which carries a penalty of a $500 fine and up to 365 days in jail.
Several areas, including Barren County, have issued similar bans in response to the drought conditions across the area.
