Minnie Eldrane Proffitt

Mrs. Minnie Eldrane Proffitt, age 88, of Tompkinsville, Kentucky passed
away peacefully on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at her home. She was born in
The Elbow Community of Monroe County on February 13, 1933, a daughter of
the late Jim Pratt and Earnest Lestie (Cleary) Gearlds. She married Aaron
Rex Proffitt on July 29, 1950, he preceded her in death on November
14, 1974. She was a member of Mt. Gilead Church of Christ and enjoyed
playing Shanghai Rummy and Pitch with her friends.
 
She is survived by her children; Jerry Thomas Proffitt, and wife Becky of
Lakeland, Georgia, Cathy Jo Walden and husband JB of Burkesville, and
Tammie Joy Rich, and husband Tony of Tompkinsville. Eight grandchildren;
Chris Walden (Kim,) Casey Walden (Amber,) Chad Walden (Brookie,) Jeremy
Proffitt (Regina,) Bridget Mathis, Mollie Holmes (Dustin,) Brian Rich, Erin
Adams (Jordan,) fourteen great-grandchildren, and two
great-great-grandchildren on the way also survive.
 
In addition to her parents, and husband Aaron Rex Proffitt, she was
preceded in death by five brothers; Homer, Luke, Lynn, J.C. and Boss
Gearlds, six sisters; Lura Bartley, Ethel Bartley, Myrtie Key, Addie
Crawford, Kathleen Gillenwater, and Madline Hammer, and one grandson Corey
Joseph Walden.
 
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 7,
2021, at Bartley & Sons Funeral Home in Tompkinsville with burial to follow
in Monroe County Memorial Lawn. Tim McHenry and Johnny Kelton will
officiate the service.
 
The family will receive friends on Monday, December 6, 2021, after 2:00
until 8:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday morning after 7:00 a.m. until time for
services at 2:00.
