There will be a new mayor in Cave City, according to the unofficial vote results from the general election that concluded Tuesday.
Clifton Parsely, who gave up his seat on the Cave City City Council to run for mayor, defeated incumbent Dwayne Hatcher.
The race for mayor in the city in northwest Barren County became more hotly contested after it was revealed a data center project was proposed for an industrial park inside the city limits. The city council, including Parsley, voted down a zoning ordinance that had been proposed by Hatcher, and voted in favor of a moratorium on accepting data center applications.
