The Barren County Judicial Center Project Development Board unanimously approved a disbursement request of $1,935,837.98 for the project during its Sept. 30 Zoom meeting. Completion is anticipated in fall 2028, about six weeks behind the initial schedule, according to meeting minutes.

Barren Circuit Judge John Alexander moved to approve disbursement request No. 35, and citizen representative Joan Norris seconded the motion.

Three weeks of the construction delay are attributed to weather, according to the construction manager’s update recorded in the meeting records. The remaining delay resulted from a concrete blowout incident.

Approximately 95% of underground utility rough-ins are complete, and the elevator towers have reached their final heights. Crews are preparing for floor slab pours, while stairwell tower construction is advancing alongside exterior concrete walls.

Adam Gillett separately reviewed three anticipated change orders. One would remove unnecessary pavers from the lower roof and deduct their cost, while another involves door hardware adjustments discussed with the design team and the Administrative Office of the Courts.

The third anticipated change involves an omitted interior-wall detail at the vehicular entrance. The contractor did not include the materials in the bid, and the project team is working with construction manager Alliance Corp. to minimize the impact, according to the minutes.
