Bobby Nelson Gentry, Mt. Hermon

Mr. Bobby Nelson Gentry, age 66, of Mt. Hermon, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at his residence.

Bobby was born in Glasgow, Kentucky on February 6, 1960, the son of the late Curtis L. and Vonda Pearl (Stephens) Gentry. Bobby was a graduate of Tompkinsville High School Class of 1978, and held a strong Christian Faith. He spent twenty-one years at Belden and spent the last thirty years as a legendary Fishing Guide on Dale Hollow Lake showcasing various fishing trips on “Reel Country with Bobby Gentry”. He married Betty (Helton) Gentry on July 1, 2000 at The Narrows on Barren River Lake. Bobby was the president of the Mt. Hermon Community Center, served as a member of the Monroe County School Board for the past twelve years, and held memberships in several bass fishing clubs over the years. He loved playing music and could play just about any instrument, but his favorite was always the drums.

Bobby is survived by his wife of twenty-six years; Betty Gentry of Mt. Hermon, one son; Wesley Gentry and wife Emily of Bowling Green, one daughter; Taylor Waldridge and husband Brandon of Cave City, four grandchildren; Gunner Garrison, Everly Gentry, Annie Page and Adaline Gentry, one uncle; Raymond Stephens and wife Wanda, and a host of extended family also survives.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, and many close friends that were like brothers to him.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Bartley & Sons Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, with burial to follow in the White Cemetery. Bro. Doug Copas and Bro. Jimmy Smith will officiate the service.

Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, October 9, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and then again on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. until the service time at 11:00 a.m. at Bartley & Sons Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Monroe County Band Program in memory of Bobby, those may be made at the Funeral Home.
