Lorene Mae Wilkerson, Munfordville

Oct 6, 2026 | 11:12 AM

Lorene Mae Crump Wilkerson, age 89, of Munfordville passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, Oct. 3rd following a natural decline in health.

She was born on April 30, 1937, in Hart County and spent her life believing in the same values of faith, and hard work, as she was raised and taught by her grandparents, Harry and Lizzie Crump. She was a member of the Mt. Beulah Methodist Church whose trust in the Lord helped guide her through-out her life.

She was a housewife and worked on the farm whenever she was needed. She understood the value of honesty and hard work.

In addition to her work at home and on the farm, she also spent time sitting with the elderly in and around Munfordville. She had a tender heart and a natural gift for making others feel cared for and respected.

She faced life’s joys and hardships with a steady trust in the Lord, and her example will remain a blessing to all who were fortunate enough to know her.

She will be remembered for her loving nature, her friendly smile, and her faithful heart. Though her earthly journey has come to an end, the memory of her life and the influence of her Christian faith will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.

Lorene was the wife of the late Harry Glendal Wilkerson and was also preceded by a daughter Linda Darlene Turner Stewart.

She is survived by a son Darrell Glen Wilkerson(Linda Jolly) and a daughter Teresa Ann Cobb Melloan; grandsons (Glendon) Ray Wilkerson, Travis Kenneth Turner and Jonathan (Trevor) Melloan; granddaughter Tina Darlene (Turner) Bishop; great-grandson Link Turner Bishop; great-granddaughters Lora Olive Bishop and August Ann Melloan; sister Helen (Crump) Trulock; Brothers-in-law Donald Freeman Wilkerson(the late Lucille); sister-in-law Marcella Qualls Cox (Hubert).

The funeral will be held at 1pm Wednesday, Oct. 7th in the chapel of Sego Funeral Home with burial in the Mt. Beulah Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 3-8pm and after 8am Wednesday at the Sego Funeral Home.
