Patricia Ann Smith Hatcher, 71, of Cave City, Kentucky, departed this life on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at T.J. Samson Hospital in Glasgow. A lifelong resident of the Cave City community, Pat was born on October 22, 1954, to the late Buford T. and Genell Janes Smith. She was united in marriage to her loving husband of thirty-nine years, Dwayne Hatcher, with whom she shared a life filled with love, family, faith, and countless cherished memories.
Pat retired from her career as an administrative assistant at T.J. Samson Hospital, where she was known for her dedication and caring nature. She was a devoted member of Basil Chapel United Baptist Church. Her faith and the values she held close were woven into the way she lived, loved her family, cherished her church family, and cared for those around her. One of Pat’s greatest joys was southern gospel music. She was blessed with a God-given gift for singing and over the years shared that gift with others as a member of several quartets. Singing was simply a part of who Pat was, and her beautiful voice and love for gospel music brought happiness to many who had the privilege of hearing her sing.
Above all else, Pat cherished her family. She found tremendous pride and happiness in watching her children and grandchildren grow, learn, and find their own paths in life. Whether they were succeeding in school, competing in sports, building careers, or simply reaching the everyday milestones of life, Pat was always there cheering them on. Their accomplishments were her accomplishments, and their happiness brought her great joy. She treasured every opportunity to encourage them, celebrate them, and let them know just how proud she was of each one.
Besides her husband, Dwayne, she leaves to honor her memory — her treasured sons, Johnathan Doyle (Angie) of Lexington, Scott Doyle (Caralee) of Lawrenceburg, and Lee Doyle (Amanda) of Crestwood; beloved stepchildren, Tammy Bruton (Beau), Troy Hatcher, and Traci Cox; cherished grandchildren, Katelyn Doyle, Tyler Doyle, Bella Doyle, Kylie Doyle, Blake Doyle, Alex Doyle, Cody Doyle, Shelby Greene, and Briley Bruton; brother, Gary L. Smith (Billie Sue), along with many loving cousins, extended family members, friends, and her church family who will miss her dearly.
The interment will be in Cave City Cemetery.
