Koty Barber, age 34, of Bowling Green, KY, passed away July 28, 2026 in Hopkinsville, KY.
Koty as born August 9, 1991, in Warren Co., KY to Jeff Barber and Marquetta Lee.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Patricia Ann Beauvais; paternal grandfather, Alex Barber; uncle, Pete Barber; uncle, Ricky Beauvais.
Koty is survived by his parents, father, Jeff Barber of Bowling Green, KY, and mother, Marquetta Thomas (Kelly) of Glasgow, KY; his two brothers, Clint Barber (Erin) of Bowling Green, KY, and Tristin Thomas of Glasgow, KY; paternal grandmother, Phyllis Barber of Bowling Green, KY; maternal grandfather, Donald A. Beauvais of Salem, OH; grandparents, Jerry and Beverly Thomas of Glasgow, KY; several aunts, uncles and cousins. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Esther May.
Koty Barber was known for his kindness, generosity, and genuine compassion for others. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand, offer a listening ear, or join friends and family for a fishing trip, jam session, or gathering. His love for people was matched only by his lifelong affection for animals, especially his faithful companion, Esther-May.
Koty found joy in life’s simple pleasures and valued meaningful relationships over material possessions. Thoughtful gifts, whether handmade or humble, were treasured, and he appreciated the care and intention behind them more than their value.
Koty had a natural gift for music and could quickly learn to play almost any instrument he picked up. He also enjoyed drawing and other creative pursuits, though he was often too modest to share his work with others.
Curious by nature, Koty approached life with a sense of wonder and a desire to understand the world around him. He was happiest outdoors, whether casting a fishing line or sitting around a campfire with family and friends.
Those who knew Koty will remember him for treating everyone with respect, kindness, and dignity. He never judged others by their circumstances and believed every person deserved compassion and understanding.
Though he would not have described himself as deeply religious, Koty’s life reflected the values of humility, generosity, forgiveness, and love for others. His quiet example left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those whose lives he touched.
Funeral services for Koty Barber will take place Monday, August 3, 2026, at 11:00am at J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel with burial to follow in the Barber Family Cemetery.
Visitation will begin on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at 2:00pm until 7:00pm and again on Monday at 9:00am until time of service at 11:00am.
The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations be made directly to the family.
