Farmers RECC is recognizing its commitment to community by awarding eight $1,000 scholarships to local students pursuing higher education. The cooperative says the program is one way it demonstrates the cooperative principle of “Concern for Community,” which has guided its work since 1938.

Each year, Farmers RECC provides eight scholarships to help finance college or other higher education costs for students who are cooperative members, or whose families are members. Officials say the awards are meant to ease the financial burden as graduates take their next steps. The scholarship funds may be used for tuition, fees, campus housing, textbooks and other educational supplies related to the recipient’s academic pursuits, according to a Farmers RECC press release. The cooperative notes that flexibility is built into the program so students can apply the money where it is most needed.

This year’s Farmers RECC scholarship recipients represent several communities across the service area. The recipients are Addison Davis of Hardyville, Anderson Slinker of Horse Cave, Aubrey Glass of Edmonton, Cameron Crawford of Glasgow, Kairi Frazier of Glasgow, Olivia Woodcock of Glasgow, Mattie Gardner of Munfordville, and Shannon-Kate Matthews of Clarkson. Farmers RECC officials say these students reflect the cooperative’s investment in the next generation of community leaders and professionals.

By investing in the future of local students, Farmers RECC says it aims to support both its members and the broader communities it serves. Cooperative leaders describe the scholarship program as part of a long-term effort to strengthen the region through education and opportunity.
