Amy Page was named the new principal of Glasgow Middle School during a special-called meeting of the school’s site-based decision-making council on Tuesday, May 19, in the school’s library.

“I am truly honored and humbled to stand before you as the new principal of Glasgow Middle School,” Page said. “I want to sincerely thank our district leadership, our site-based council members, and our staff and our teachers for putting your trust in me.

“It is a privilege to join a school system with such a strong reputation and tradition of excellence. It’s clear that you have a deep commitment to students and that is why Glasgow Middle School was the perfect choice for myself and my family.”

Page takes over for Justin Stinson who was named the school district’s new transportation director.

Glasgow Independent Schools Superintendent Chad Muhlenkamp said Page has a plethora of experience working in schools.

“We have an individual who brings more than 20 years of experience in education and leadership to Glasgow Middle School,” he said. “Throughout her career, she has worked with students across all grade levels — kindergarten through 12th grade.”

Page has spent the past five years as an assistant principal and career and technical education coordinator for Monroe County High School. Prior to that, she was a library media specialist, school technology coordinator and a business teacher.

Muhlenkamp said the new principal is “passionate about building a positive school culture where students and staff feel supported, valued and challenged to achieve at high levels.”

When searching for a new principal, Muhlenkamp said they had 141 responses to a survey regarding ideal qualities for the school’s new leader. He said some key attributes highlighted from the survey were communication, school climate and high student expectations.

“There was a lot of feedback that was given,” the superintendent said. “For you that took the time to do the survey, we valued that.

“That was what we used to guide our questions and search as we find the next principal for Glasgow Middle School.”

Page said “as we move forward together, I promise to lead with integrity, positivity and have a student-centered focus.”

“I will work to continue the tradition of excellence that has already been established here and will strive to be a leader that I would want my own children to follow,” she said. “I’m excited for what’s ahead, and thank you again to this community for this opportunity.

“My family and I look forward to this new chapter and I’m honored to serve as your next principal.”
