Emma Dean Thomas, Mudlick Community

Emma Dean (Wheat) Thomas, 87, of the Mudlick Community in Tompkinsville, KY, passed away Thursday, April 16th, at Signature Health Care of Monroe County, KY.

Dean was born in Tompkinsville, KY on December 23, 1938, a daughter of the late Etta (Trent) and Paul Wheat.

On June 27, 1953, she married Burl Clinton Thomas. They had 66 wonderful years together before his passing on December 31, 2019.

Dean worked at sewing factories, Dime Co., and retired from being a cook at Tompkinsville Elementary School. Dean was a member of Bethlehem Community Church. She enjoyed embroidering, traveling, cooking and especially spending time with her family. Dean was a member of Bethlehem Order of the Eastern Star #538.

Dean is survived by two daughters, Sandy Strode, and husband, R.V. of Mud Lick, KY; and Debbie Woodward, and husband Robert V., of Auburn, KY; four grandchildren, Deanna Taylor, Danetta Strode, Wade Woodward, Kelli Woodward; six great grandchildren, John Ryan Taylor, Austin Taylor, Lindsey Taylor Watson, Nathan York, Hogan Woodward, and Sylvia Woodward; and ten great great grandchildren and four step great great grandchildren.

Also surviving is a sister, Janice Short, of Mud Lick, KY, and a sister-in-law, Etta Thomas, of Mt. Hermon, KY.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 18, at Yokley Trible Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, KY., with Bro. Paul Mills officiating. Burial to follow in Bethlehem Cemetery.

Visitation is Friday afternoon from 4:00-8:00 P.M., and Saturday morning from 8:00 A.M. until service time at 1:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Bethlehem Cemetery.
