The Glasgow Scotties lost their first game of the season Friday night at LaRue County, 33-28.

Both teams entered the game undefeated overall and in district action. The Hawks exit at 8-0 and 4-0, while the Scotties fall to 7-1 and 3-1.

LaRue jumped ahead 14-0 early in the second quarter before Glasgow scored on a 45-yard pass play from Landen Holley to Jaylen Bradley. Daniel Rodriguez added the extra point.

The Scotties forced a fumble on the Hawks’ next drive, and Jaithan Franklin recovered the ball at the Glasgow 39.

Four minutes later, Holley connected with Trevis Collor on a seven-yard touchdown pass. Another PAT tied the game 14-14 with 1:18 left in the first half.

LaRue regained the lead in the third quarter on a 15-yard touchdown pass. The extra-point kick set the score at 21-14.

Glasgow answered with a 15-yard touchdown run by Kyle Sledge, and the PAT tied the game at 21 with 2:44 left in the third period.

The Hawks took the lead for good with 31 seconds left in the third period on a two-yard quarterback run. The extra-point kick was wide left.

The Scotties’ next drive ended with an interception, and that set up a 23-yard touchdown run two minutes later by the Hawks. Glasgow stopped the two-point conversion, and LaRue led 33-21 with 8:14 left in the game.

Glasgow got to within five with a five-yard touchdown run by Holley. Rodriguez kicked the PAT with 7:03 left on the game clock.

The Hawks had the ball for the next six minutes of the game. They converted on a fourth-and-9 to keep the drive alive.

But the Scotties got the ball back with a minute to play in the game after stopping on fourth-and-2 at the Glasgow nine-yard-line.

The Scotties’ final drive, though, also ended with an intersection with seven seconds left in the game.

Glasgow plays Thursday, Oct. 22, at Edmonson County at 7 p.m. It will also be a district contest.
